After reviewing student results of the past school year, there appears to be performance gap between student assessment results and student attendance. The data results reflected that students had excellent attendance at the beginning of the year and having high performance results on assessments. When reviewing the reasons students were missing a large amount of school days, the reasons appeared to relate to the lack of parent support and understanding. Reasons such as appointments, personal situations, illness, transportation, and other family engagements is what is keeping students from being present daily. The students are those being effective by the attendance and at their age they cannot control their attendance rate. The purpose of this tutorial is to identify the reasons for increasing parent involvement to descrease student absense. Parents and teachers play a large role in student success. Throughout the tutorial, strategies will be developed to build a strong parent-teacher partnership.
